Club Condition Guide

Every demo and pre-owned club, individually inspected and graded before it goes to auction.

Every demo and pre-owned club at 72 Hour Golf is individually inspected and graded by our team before it goes to auction. Our grading scale tells you at a glance what kind of life a club has lived — from barely-hit demo clubs through to well-loved favourites looking for a new home.

Please treat the grades as a friendly guide. Every listing includes detailed photographs of the actual club you are bidding on, and the photos show the true condition of the club. We encourage you to look through them carefully before placing your bid.

Grade Typical Use What to Expect
A+ AS NEW / DEMO Hit approximately 1–5 times The closest thing to brand new without the brand-new price. Typically a demo or fitting club that has barely left the rack. Clubhead is virtually unmarked, with no more than very light face markings. Original grip is in excellent, near-new condition, and the clubhead is free of scratches or skymarks.
A EXCELLENT Hit approximately 10–20 times A club in great condition that is hitting beautifully and has plenty of life ahead of it. Light, normal wear on the face and sole from limited use. The original grip is in almost-new condition with full tackiness. No dents, rattles or marks that affect performance.
B GOOD / PLAYED Used regularly A well-performing club that shows the honest hallmarks of regular play — visible face wear, sole scratching and perhaps a little bag chatter. May be fitted with a new or recently replaced grip. Structurally sound and fully playable; the wear is cosmetic and clearly shown in the listing photos.
C PRE-LOVED Well played and well loved A genuinely second-hand club with character. Expect obvious cosmetic wear — scratches, paint chips, worn stampings and possibly skymarks. The grip may show wear unless noted as replaced. Still a great performer and fantastic value for beginners, backup sets or bag experiments. Check the photos closely — they show the exact club on offer.

The photos tell the full story

Condition grades are assigned in good faith as a general guide only. The photographs in each listing show the exact club for sale and take precedence over the written grade. By bidding, you confirm you have reviewed the photos and are happy with the club as shown.
